THERE has been no shortage of activity for the GABN Committee and members since our last column.

Grampians Business Film Festival

Earlier this month 11 businesses from across the Grampians region were showcased at the Grampians Business Film Festival at Ballarat’s Regent Cinemas. The Local Legends Series was created with funding from the State Government’s Resilience and Innovation Project and highlighted stories of resilience and challenge throughout the pandemic. Congratulations to local businesses Acacia Caravan Park and Holiday Units and Absolute Outdoors who represented our region strongly alongside operators from neighbouring areas including the Pyrenees, Wimmera, Daylesford and Moorabool Shires.

Wage subsidies available

Jobs Victoria has a range of wage subsidies available of up to $20,000 per employee should you meet the criteria. This includes new and current staff (if you are wishing to increase their hours). If you have already taken on new staff or increased hours for existing staff, we would love to hear about your ‘good news story’ and pass this on to encourage other employers to look into accessing the subsidy. So, please drop me a line and I will make contact with you about how you found the process of applying, the benefits of the subsidy and how this supports your business. To read more about the funding on offer and check your eligibility visit jobs.vic.gov.au or contact Phillipa Cairns at Ararat Rural City Council.

Business Victoria Grant Opportunities

Currently there are a number of grant and subsidy opportunities available to assist Victorian businesses. From rooftop solar rebates to ventilation grants or even skilled and business migration programs now is the time to investigate the programs available to grow, develop and help your business recover.

Business After Dark GABN’s June Business After Dark evening was held on Wednesday. Our co-hosts for the evening were, Craig Wilson, from the Ararat Advocate and, Robert Bell, of Grampians First Aid. Thanks to everyone who came along for an evening of networking and nibbles. These events are always a terrific way to meet and catch up with other members of the Ararat business community and learn about a member business. To stay up to date on the details for our next event make sure you follow the GABN facebook page.

If you are considering becoming a member of GABN or would like to know more about our future activities please contact any of our committee members or email admin@gabn. org.au. We would love to hear from you.
